Robert Youds is a Canadian multidisciplinary artist based in Victoria, British Columbia. Renowned for his explorations in abstract painting, sculpture, and light installations his work interrogates the interplay of colour, space to look beyond the limitations of historically preordained aesthetic boundaries. With a practice spanning over 4 decades Youds, alongside notable contemporaries such as Donald Judd, Frank Stella, Blinky Palermo and Dan Flavin, queries real space and its relationship to the constructed object. His interest in architecture and industrial design allows him expanded possibilities in his work within the social and psychological realms of the viewer experience.
